Book Worm - Day 23

Hello dolls! How was this weekend for you? Did you have a good time? I hope so. Mine was relatively uneventful. For some reason I've been really exhausted and its already 1 AM so I'm keeping this post super short.

Today's challenge is to post a picture of my favorite book. I'm an avid reader. I find it very calming and exciting at the same time. Though I can't name just ONE book as my favorite, one of my favorites is Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Its a wonderful book. I'm sure most of you have had to read it for an English class at some point in your lives. If you haven't, though, I highly recommend it.

What is your favorite book? Alright, ladies, I'm off for the night. Have a great one and sleep sweet!

Lots of love!

Day of Silence for Japan

Hello again, dolls. I just wanted to let you know about this effort to bring relief to Japan called "For Japan With Love". I urge you to PLEASE donate! We should all care about what happens in this world, regardless of whether or not its here in the US or not. Thank you in advance if any of you decide to help out, whether its through this campaign or elsewhere!

Also, I will be participating in the day of silence and won't be writing again until at least Saturday! Have a good night!

Lots of love!

Anything You Can Do I (Wish I) Could Do Better - Day 22

Hello dolls! I hope you're all out having fun on this lovely holiday while I celebrate from home. I'm pretty awesome, right? :)

Day 22's challenge is to post a picture of something I wish I were better at. There are quite a few things I'm not great at! I'm going to put up pictures of three, but I'll list a few more!

Number one is: S-E-X.

Surprise! A sexy photo of Britney. The girl's amazing.

Maybe that's TMI, but honestly, doesn't everyone secretly wish they were better in bed? I have shared wonderful, intimate times with my boyfriend, but I've always felt that I could be a little bit...sexier? More adventurous? More confident? I'm not sure what it is, but I just wish that I was the girl that my man and ex's have said, "Oh, my gosh, she was my best, hands down." Maybe my man does feel that way. He tells me that, but what he says behind my back is a mystery. So somehow I'll build my skills. Sorry if this grosses you all out, but I'm sure some of you share this with me.

Number two is: cooking!

This is exactly how I feel!

Ok, so I totally understand the concept of cleaning, just like the picture says. I'm ok at it. I really enjoy it, but it is somewhat intimidating. Cleaning is a whole other issue haha. Back to cooking - I really want to learn more and use recipes that my mother and grandmother have. My grandmother (Nana) was a great cook and everyone loved the food she made. Unfortunately, I didn't spend enough time with her in the kitchen to learn her techniques, so all I have left are her recipes. I desperately want to try some of them, but I'm afraid to ruin them and do her a disservice.

My mom didn't cook often because I was a very picky eater as a kid, but she's really good at what she does make. She's one of those people who can just put a bunch of ingredients together off the top of her head and -poof!- there's a great meal. I'm nowhere near that level of cooking. I'm still very precise. I really want to get better! Do any of you have any tips or great recipes that I should try?

Number three is: exercise.

Isn't that a pretty picture?

I am the worst exerciser in the history of the world. That's really probably no exaggeration. I don't exercise. Ever. I am lazy and sedentary. While I would LOVE to be healthy and fit, I simply can't gather the motivation to get out and do it. That and I can't afford a gym membership. I love the idea of yoga and pilates, but they're sort of scary and I'm not flexible anymore. I certainly used to be, but because I haven't really done any stretching or anything in years, I've lost that range of motion. I would give anything to have a personal trainer to show me how to do things the correct way, but the financial issue is huge. I do want to start walking, even if its just with my dog, to get at least some sunlight and some cardio in. Again, any ideas?

Well, girls, I'm off for the night. I need to sleep. For some reason I'm exhausted. Have a great night!

Lots of love!

Lexi

Erin Go Bragh!

Hello dolls! I wanted to wish you all a very Happy Saint Patrick's Day (especially those of us who are Irish)! Here are some pictures that make me smile. Enjoy your night! Have fun and stay safe!

Shamrocks. :)

The Chicago River dyed green! How fun is that?!

Love this picture with the pretty lush green field and the green fireworks. <3

Green beer - to be enjoyed responsibly (and legally) of course. ;)

Lots of love!

Forget Me Not - Day 21

Hello dolls! I hope that you've all been great! Sorry that I haven't written since my birthday weekend, but I've been busy! The rest of that weekend was great! I was so sad to say "goodbye" to my best friend, but hopefully I get to see her again soon!

After all of the birthday celebrating was over, I got back to work and then later in the week I had to take my mom to the hospital. Poor mommy was stuck there for two days. I have to say it was one of the strangest visits she's ever had. It was executed SO poorly, and we never got any definitive answers! Ugh. What a drag.

Soooo today's challenge is to post a picture of something I'd like to forget. Part of the reason I put off posting was because I wasn't sure what I would have liked to erase from my life. This was what I came up with. It wasn't THAT big of a deal, but you know how everyone has those "I can't believe I ever wore that/did that/felt that/dated him" moments? This was one of mine. This picture is from a prom I went to at someone else's high school. It looks like I have no makeup on and my hair isn't done at all and that dress...I liked it at the time, but now I'm like, "What was I thinking?!" I just wish I could forget about the whole prom. Here goes:

Oh. My. God. Who even is that girl? I don't even think it looks like me.

The high school me and the now me don't even look similar in my mind. I was super tan from being a lifeguard and I was a lot thinner. But here I am looking at this picture and thinking that I like myself better now than I did then, even if I weigh more and am a lot paler.

What was your moment that you wish you could forget? One of my favorite quotes is:

"Accept everything about yourself. I mean everything. You are you, and that is the beginning and the end; no apologies, no regrets." - Clark Montanas

I hope that none of you regret anything in your lives but that you see every experience you have had as part of you, whether it was good or bad.

Alright, loves, I'm off to watch the very end of "The Bachelor" and see who he proposes to! I really hope its Emily! I love her. But I don't mind Chantal. Keeping my fingers crossed! Night!

Lots of love!

Lexi

Birthday Weekend!

Hello dolls! I'm just stopping by to write a quick post.

As you know, this is my birthday weekend. Though yesterday was the official day, I'm celebrating all weekend (and probably into next week). My best friend is here and we're having a good time so far!

Yesterday we went into the city and did a bit of shopping. We had a blast and I was proud of myself for limiting my purchases to just a few things. We stopped by H&M, Forever 21 (which is huge - definitely go if you're ever in Times Square), Topshop, Alexis Bittar, Sephora, Madewell, Jamba Juice (my fave), the M&Ms store, and a few other little places, including the famous Canal St. shops. They're always interesting. We had planned to go out locally last night but we were exhausted from such a long day of shopping. We decided to stay in and watch a movie and order Chinese. It was the perfect ending to a great day!

I went CRAZY in Sephora because of the Hello Kitty collection. OMG I can't even describe the obsession I've had with Hello Kitty since I was just a tiny little thing. I love her! Even though I haven't bought any of the pieces from the collection (yet), I still plan to and am lusting over them. I highly recommend the Hello Kitty perfume, though. It smells amazing. Seriously, go try it!

The Swarovski crystal encrusted version of the HK mirror. It retails for $350. There are only three in NYC and I got to touch it. :)

This is also Swarovski encrusted. This is the brush holder and set. Retails for $495. It was love at first sight. <3

Well, girls, I'm off for another fun-filled day with the bff! I hope that you're all having a great weekend!

Lots of love!

Lexi
